• Embellished with 5 Family Crests "Kamon Maruni Kenkatabami" (the sword and the Oxalis leaf)

A Bit of Symbolism: In Japanese Buddhism, the sword "Ken," or double-edged straight sword, symbolizes awakening. Used in the "Goma" fire ritual to destroy passions, it is carried by the Buddhist deity "Fudo-Myoo" to overcome human ignorance.

The plant Oxalis "Katabami," which is edible and has anti-inflammatory properties, is used in Japan to ward off demons.

Description: Authentic antique Japanese kimono, 100% black silk for men, once worn by Japanese warriors (samurai) under their "Yoroi" armor.

Nowadays, this type of kimono is becoming increasingly rare in Japan and is unfortunately at risk of disappearing! It is most often purchased by foreign tourists visiting Japan. Japanese men wear it only on rare occasions, such as at weddings or other exceptional events. Due to the high cost of purchasing a new silk kimono, it is often bought or rented in polyester or Tétoron.

Usage: In keeping with martial tradition, in the manner of Japanese shihans, this kimono should be worn as a keikogi, complemented by the gray striped umanori hakama for practicing Iaido, Kenjutsu, Batto Jutsu (available in the store).

Care: Dry clean only, as silk requires!

Period: Heisei (1989~)
